My Precious Kaiah

My nine month old daughter Kaiah was born with unilateral pffd of the left leg. I have gotten more information about her condition by doing research over the internet than I've gotten from the doctors. We are so scared and terrified of the word amputation which is the only option Shriners has given us (although we've gotten two other opinions locally here in Richmond Virginia that lengthening is very possible). Right now the difference in her legs is one and a half inches estimated at full maturity to be six inches. We just want what is best for her to have a healthy life! After researching Dr. paley I am excited to get an appointement for him to tell us he can lengthen her leg. WE LOVE THAT LITTLE FOOT (ALL TOES IN TACT AND COMPLETELY FORMED)!!! We can't bare to think of cutting off a perfectly good foot just to put a prostesis in place when the lengthening is very much an option. It really disturbs me that Shriners won't consider lengthening because they say it's too painful and a long drawn out ordeal. She wants to walk so badly but she falls and hurts herself alot because she has yet to learn to balance herself effectively. Can anyone tell me if a lift is an option at this point to keep her from falling so much? Shriners says to wait until she can completely walk but it's so disheartening to watch her get hurt because we don't want to handicap her by not allowing her to be independant. She is very advanced for her age and if I may say so my self she is proving to be a very strong spirit and strong physically, prepared spiritually for the challenges ahead. She is a fighter litterally!!! If anyone has any advice feel free to give it. Iam so glad to know we aren't alone
