I believe he has class b

Hi,
My grandson is 8 yrs. old.
He was born with pffd. He has been wearing a lift
for several yrs. now. Nothing stops him from doing
anything. Not even that big lift he wears.
When little Chris enters the room with his
big smile everyone focuses on him.
Iam not sure what my son wants to do
at this point.
Finances are a big problem.
Is there help out their for this kind of thing?
If anyonr knows some info let me know.
In the mean time I will enjoy watching this little boy smile from
ear to ear.

Here are some financial options to consider:

**State Medicaid for uninsured children.

**State Special Health Care Needs Program--in some states and usually has a $25,000/yr. limit on coverage, but has higher income eligibility than medicaid.

**Shriner's Hospital--all services are free of charge.

**Non-profit hospitals offer “hospital grants”—No two hospitals call this the same thing. Some call it Benevolence Fund and others call it Samaritan Fund, but they all have it in some form. You apply (typically before treatment through social services or financial aid at the hospital) and you can receive a full or partial discount based on need and income. Almost all children’s hospitals offer this and receive funds from the United Way to fund it.

**Children's Miracle Network--help with transportation and hotel costs and some medical devices.

**First Hand Foundation--helps with prosthetics, braces, therapy and other expenses. (Applications available online at their web site)

**Disabled Children's Defense Fund--Small grants around $200 to help with devices and treatment

**Local funds (such as programs for children with developmental disabilities)--Typically administered by "Regional Centers"-- Search for services for "MR/DD" with your state name at google and you should find a local provider. Kids with PFFD usually qualify as "Developmentally Disabled" because it affects mobility and self-help on their two-category system and it is from birth.

Obviously, this is just a quick overview with variations from state to state. Contact me if you need more information or information specific to your location.
