I was just looking for information about the super hip surgery. My son will be having surgery this December with Dr. Paley. He will be having the hip surgery, knee surgery, and foot surgery. I feel clueless and very scared going into these surgerys. i just feel like if I understood better what to expect I might be able to breathe a litte easier these next couple of months.

I cannot offer you any personal experience since my daughter has not had this procedure done yet -- she is only 10 months. However, I can tell you that I have spoken to a number of families who have been through it and they all made it through! You are in the best hands possible with Dr. Paley and your son will be fine. Just remember that this is much tougher on you than it is on him. He will adjust and, from what I understand, the cast only stays on for 6 weeks. Just take a deep breath and let Dr. Paley do his magic. You are doing the best for your son by taking him to the best Doctor in this field.

I've heard a lot about the super hip surgery, but I didn't know what the complication rate was for it. Did Paley give you some percentages in how likely it was to result in complications later on? For lengthening - I know he's reported a 70% serious complication rate.
