Dislocated knee from lengthening

I have had quit a bit of lengthening done and during the last one, my knee dislocated. Has anyone had this happen? The doctors were able to put my knee back into place but over time it's slid backwards again. I'm too old to see my doctor at Shriners that have done all of my surgeries, and every doctor I've gone to since doesn't really know what to do with me. I can't get a knee replacement or anything. Anyone had this problem??

Dear Jessica,

We are sorry to read about all the problems you have had with your lengthenings. It is hard enough just being a kid, but having to deal with all these setbacks must have been very hard for you. We have been taking our little girl McKenna to a doctor in Maryland, and while we have been out there we have seen several other patients who have been seeing other doctors from other areas and have gone there to Maryland to get help. The doctor's name is Dror Paley, and you can reach his staff at 1-800-221-8425. You might try contacting them and mail them a set of your x-rays and see what they think. Our little McKenna needed to have her hip repaired before we could lengthen, and they also took a long look at the knee to make sure they were in the proper position before lengthening. It might be a good idea to have these guys take a look and give you or your current doctor some advice on what might be going on. Thanks for sharing your story with all of us, and hopefully we can all work together to try to help. Good luck, and god bless!!!

Sincerely,

Chuck, Karla, Dylan & McKenna

Thank you so much =]
